Cartoonists at the Republican National Convention: Cartoons Magazine Centennial, July 1912, Part 1

Above, with art by cartoonist Fred Morgan, the cover of the July 1912 edition of Cartoons Magazine, depicting a pair of demons emphasizing the discord of the 1912 Republican National Convention in Chicago, giving the Earth a pounding headache.

Click on the above & below pictures, to view the cartoons in detail, and read their captions.

Above & below, before we dive into the pages of Convention Sketches, are the July pages from Cartoons Magazine‘s monthly spotlight on certain cartoonists. The focus this time is cast on Charles H. Winner (above), and William Charles Morris (below).

Above & below, sketches of a variety of political players at the 1912 G.O.P. Convention, by cartoonists Frank Wing, James H. Donahey, Sidney Smith, Nelson Harding, and Harry J. Westerman.

Above & below, two pages by Nelson Harding, not from Cartoons Magazine, but from Harding’s end-of-the-election collection, The Political Campaign of 1912 in Cartoons.

Finally, while Harding studies how to draw a Bull Moose, below, John DeMar depicts cartoonists begging Taft to not totally decimate Teddy — to at least leave T.R.’s famous big teeth to caricature.
