No, that’s not a reference to my books, but to the sound Mutts make. And at the studio we were barking like dogs last night! We were excited because Christmas came early when we got a big box of Mutts vinyls and pvc’s that we sculpted for Dark Horse. Digging further down into the box we found the Underdog ornament we did and finally Nancy and Sluggo! (Please note: I am not now or have never been a member of the Bushmiller Society).

..well, not really. I’ve been one, of sorts, for a few decades and now I’d like to be a male-stripper. But I dig this old British comic full of careers opportunities like Civil Engineer, Accountant, Train Engineer Driver, Solicitor (whatever THAT is-sounds dirty!) and…Commercial Artist! Nearly every career presented in the book has one panel where you get the admiration of a good looking babe from your career choice. Cool. (Though, sadly, commercial artists in England have to draw guys in their scivies rather than half naked babes-oh, well, beats the hell out of being an accountant!). BTW I really like the design of the booklet’s cover and plan on stealing it, in the best commercial artist’s tradition, so I call dibbs on it!

Been neglecting the blog, but gonna try and get back on track so spread the word Yoe’s on the bloggin’ again. I’ve been busy on the road speaking (Singapore, Washington, Chicago, etc) but especially with two book deadlines. Been slugging way at the next Arf book, Arf Forum (Fantagraphics) and Clean Cartoonists’ Dirty Drawings (Last Gasp). Both books will be out in the spring of 2007 and I’ll be giving you lots of news about them and sneak peeks before then. For now here’s the covers which I’m very pleased with. Sex sells! Let me know if you have any ideas for Clean Cartoonists Dirty Drawings right now, though. I don’t want to go to press and hear later about some Good Stuff!
