Woodrow Wilson: Cartoons Magazine Centennial, April 1912, Part 6

Our Cartoons Magazine centennial year coverage of the Election of 1912 continues. Today, we present candidate Woodrow Wilson‘s lone page in the April 1912 issue (absolutely eclipsed by many pages this month devoted to the more fun candidate for cartoonists to draw — T.R)!

Two of the cartoons focus on how Wall Street would prefer someone else. John DeMar‘s entry (top right) depicts Wall Street planning underwater sabotage against Wilson’s incoming ship; meanwhile, in Playing the Game (bottom left), we see the “Common People” playing checkers against Wall Street — the people have only one checker piece on their side (labeled “Wilson”), while Wall Street has three (each labeled for Wilson’s Democratic opponents). The other two cartoons are contributed by H.T. Webster (top left), and Charles Bowers (bottom right).
