D. J. David B. Spins Comics-Tunes: The Terrible Terror of Terrifying Music

In honor of the release of yet another excellent book from our gracious hosts at Yoe Books, I now present a terrifying tune for a terrible Tuesday. The book, of course, is Bob Powell’s Terror, the second in the Chilling Archives of Horror Comics series, available now on Amazon.

To go with this tome of terror is this tune of terror called “Experiment in Terror.” Was this song actually written in tribute to Bob Powell? I can’t say for sure that it was. But can you prove it wasn’t? I didn’t think so.

Unlike a lot of the music I present here (okay, most) this is not some obscure song that no one’s ever heard or would want to again. “Experiment in Terror” was composed by none other than Henry Mancini! Other artists who recorded this haunting melody include Davie Allen & the Arrows, La Muerte, Al Caiola, The Blue Hawaiians, The Champs and The Waterdogs.

Not to mention the above-mentioned Hank Mancini who wrote it as the theme of the movie by the same name. (I assume the film was also a tribute to Bob Powell. I haven’t seen it.)

This version is by Laika and the Cosmonauts and I think you’ll agree it’s terrific!
