D. J. David B. Spins Comics-Tunes: Aquaman
What could be better to brighten up your Tuesday than The Official Adventures of Aquaman? The secret origin of how Aquaman got his powers is narrated by none other than legendary announcer Jackson Beck. Who, in an amazing comics coincidence, was also the voice of Bluto in the Popeye cartoons. How’s that for a cartoon pedigree? What’s interesting about this Aquaman record is not so much the secret origin of His Maritime Majesty (I had just assumed his mother married a fish) but the cool theme song that goes with it. Who knew Aquaman even had a theme song? Well I’ll be hornswoggled! Yours truly, DJ David B, cleverly edited together the intro and outro from the record so you don’t have to sit through the actual story. After all, this is about comics TUNES not great narration. Today we’re proud to present Little Known Facts, a favorite track from the MGM album, starring Orson Bean as Charlie Brown, Barbara Minkus as Lucy, and as Linus, the one and only Clark Gesner, who also wrote the music and lyrics.
