This Day in Arf History: Ferd’nand Debuts in 1937. Shut UP!!

The Dane animator Henning Dahl Mikkelsen (in the photo above) created the Ferd’nand comic strip which debuted on this date in 1937. This “mime” strip, wrth no dialog, is one of the longest continuing strips in the world. Mikkelsen drew it till his death in his adopted state of California in 1982. Ferd’nand was taken over by Frank Thomas, Al Plastino and now the current artist, Henrik Rehr, in over 100 papers worldwide, continues his unspeakable acts.

I enjoyed this strip back in the 60′s, I didn’t know it was still around.

I.T.C.H is looking forward to your thoughts. Please, no flame. Thanks!
