Shown here for this year’s Cinco de Mayo posting, we have extracted from the May 1912 issue of Cartoons Magazine, those cartoons concerning the ongoing Mexican Revolution of 1910-1920. At this point in 1912, the Revolution is heating up.

Cartoons Magazine‘s May 1912 issue, was the first in its run to devote any page space of note on the Mexican Revolution. Its coverage will continue to grow, so expect to see more. Most of these are from the perspective of U.S. cartoonists, and unfortunately sometimes include patronizing and prejudiced views.

Above, a page of cartoons concerning embattled Mexican President Madero. Included are cartoons by James H. Donahey and Robert Minor, Jr. Beneath, Why Cuss Mexico?, pointing out the U.S. had its own problems to curse.

Finally, The Call to Arms, depicting American corporate interests, calling for invading Mexico, with an eye towards plundering its resources.
