One of the things we want to accomplish as the International Team of Comics Historians is to become your one-stop source for comics history. There are so many great comics history sites on the Net these days that you really can’t keep up with them. Seriously, you really can’t (I’ve tried!).

That’s where we come in. Every day we’ll alert you to at least a handful of sites with eclectic and obscure reprints, historical insights, cool artwork or interesting interviews. Of course we’ll also be presenting all of the above ourselves right here from time to time, too! Let’s take a look at what’s new out in virtual reality this morning, shall we?

A good place to start on any given day is at PAPPY’S GOLDEN AGE BLOGZINE! Today, Pappy offers up a dull but beautifully rendered story from DC’s 1950′s title GANGBUSTERS as drawn by the now-legendary Frank Frazetta. http://pappysgoldenage.blogspot.com/2009/09/number-587-officer-and-oatburner-heres.html

HAIRY GREEN EYEBALL II presents a fun 1962 collection of panel cartoons originally seen in THE SATURDAY EVENING POST. When I was growing up, one of the first jobs I really wanted to have was a gag cartoonist! One of the biggest treats in recent months has been Thomas Haller Buchanan’s POGO IN PANDEMOMIA. The site just finished a complete reprinting of the classic 1966-67 POGO newspaper strips that are often cited as creator Walt Kelly at his peak, complete with extras and extensive annotations! This past week, it was announced that the site will continue with its unadulterated love for Uncle Walt and his swampland friends! Go POGO! http://pogoinpandemonia.blogspot.com/

Similarly, COLE’S COMICS is a regular tribute to PLASTIC MAN creator Jack Cole, reprinting and analyzing his early works from his “injury to the eye motif” violent crime comics to his sexy PLAYBOY panel gags and his silly and/or straightforward superheroes. THE MATT MURDOCK CHRONICLES is an obsessive site that does in-depth analyses of every single issue of Marvel’s DAREDEVIL. They’re currently up to issue 106 in the middle of a peculiar (Weren’t they all?) Steve Gerber run from the early 1970′s. This is a fun site to breeze through from the beginning if you have the time, particularly for any of you young whippersnappers who think DD began and ended with Frank Miller. http://themattmurdockchronicles.blogspot.com/
