Itchin’ to Get Started Here

barnabyc1
Hiya comics aficionados! My name is Steven Thompson. Some of you may know me as “booksteve” from my own group of blogs that include BOOKSTEVE’S LIBRARY and HOORAY FOR WALLY WOOD. Craig has invited me and a few others here into his crazy virtual world (Say, Craig, what are those naked cartoon ladies doing over there anyway?) to be a part of I.T.C.H., his International Team of Comics Historians. Somehow he assumed, with 5 blogs already, that I had some spare time! Even stranger, I agreed! I think Craig feels that I’m representative of many people over the age of consent these days in that I find most modern comics to be relatively sad affairs. The good news is that all the old stuff is still out there, classic comic books and newspaper strips that you may never have seen that make today’s output look like the cave scrawlings of an immature misanthropic cro magnon person. The problem has been that so much of it has gone uncollected, gathering dust in archives, libraries and collectors’ boxes and drawers. In recent years that’s finally started to change and the future looks even brighter. Now begins the rennaisance! Now begins the future of classic comics! Come visit here often as we point you toward forgotten classics-the best of the best and the strangest of the strangest-and hopefully introduce you to comics creators whose names may mean absolutely nothing to you at this moment!
