When Disney’s 1940 hallucinogenic masterpiece Fantasia was re-released in the psychedelic sixties, animator Art Babbit was asked by some hippies whether he was on drugs while making the film. “Yes, I was on drugs,” quipped Babbit, “Ex-Lax and Pepto Bismol!”

Man! I never knew you could get high on Ex-Lax and Pepto. Now the drugstore will be putting those behind the counter, too.
There’s no way the Disney artists and animators did the intricate, painstaking, high-precision work in Fantasia while they were stone sober, that much we know for sure.
I always assumed they were huffing paint fumes from Cel-Vinyl.
