2oth Century Danny Boy is serializing the autobiographical reminiscences of artist/writer Rich Buckler. The most recent installment to date spotlights the creation of his character Deathlok the Demolisher, perhaps the very first comics protagonist to feature the more modern character design style that went on to become the norm in the field.

The great cartoonist Al Capp seems to be due for for a re-evaluation these days after years and years of concentration on his later curmudgeonry at the expense of his comic strip genius. Here’s Groucho anthologist Stefan Kanfer with a with a good start at just that as he looks at Li’l Abner‘s creator with fresh eyes.

Here we find a rare, interesting and amusing 1965 cereal promo comic from Cap’n Crunch! Produced by Jay Ward studios, these were literally little oblong comic books stuffed down in with the then-new Quaker Oats cereal!

Finally today, here’s a nice tribute to the late Al Williamson-arguably his best EC story, “Food For Thought,” scanned from the original art and accompanied by some of the artist’s brilliant Flash Gordon ads for Union Carbide some years later.
