MAkin’ LInks # 212

One of my very favorite sixties strips was and is National/DC’s Stanley & His Monster created by Arnold Drake. Over at Easily Mused this morning, we have the ubiquitous Superman parody episode which, although atypical of this series, is a silly entry with nice art by Bob Oksner and Tex Blaisdell.

Another sixties favorite was the Saturday morning cartoon series, Frankenstein, Jr. and the Impossibles, seen here in a fun one-off revival in Archie’s Hanna-Barbera Presents three decades later.

The prolific Paul S. Newman teamed with Tom Gill for the first non-reprint issue of Dell’s Lone Ranger featuring the great masked rider of the radio plains (alongside his “faithful Indian companion,” Tonto, of course!)

Finally today, there is some bad news coming out in the past 16 hours or so on the great EC artist Al Williamson but as of this point I’ve yet to confirm anything with any reputable news source. Hoping for the best, here’s a link to a YouTube interview with Willie from 1990 (along with EC cohort George Evans and Dave Stevens).
