Makin’ Links # 189

One can never go wrong starting one’s day with a dose of Walt Kelly. Here’s “the Cow Jumped Over the Mood,” an original 12 page comic story from Kelly’s 1954 book, The Pogo Stepmother Goose.

In for a penny, as they say! Here’s 16 more pages of Walt Kelly’s swamp critters over at the dedicated blog, Whirled of Kelly, this time telling the somewhat more layered story of the “Late Early Poop On the Jack Acid,” from The Pogo Poop Book!

If one wants to look at the preceding as a bit of political propaganda, then here’s a more straightforward bit of same with Steve Canyon’s Secret Mission, a one-off 1950′s “educational” comic book by Milton Caniff…or more likely Ray Bailey.

Finally, let’s leave the politics behind and have a good, old-fashioned, rousing adventure story by the great Duck Artist, Carl Barks…only with Porky Pig and Bugs Bunny instead of Donald and Scrooge!
