…that’s not just a euphemism for 8-pager Tijuana Bibles. It was one of the grand comic strips of comic strip’s Golden Age. Here’s some little original character sketches by their artist George McManus. That’s Jiggs, Maggie and their daughter Rosie. I don’t know how those two ugly pugs spawned that beautiful offspring but I’d like to be Rosie’s beau!

The Jiggs below, also for sale, was official merchandise. It’s small, about 5 inches high, and was one of the original “Syroco” cereal premiums that Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson and Dave Scroggy had us model the statues we sculpt for them after. In the nearly 70 Classic Comic Strip statues we’ve done we didn’t do our version of Jiggs and Maggie. Man, I’d like to. And Rosie!
