This Day in Arf History: Richie Rich Animated Series 1980

Richie Rich started as a backup feature in Little Dot comics in 1953 but went on to have over 50 comic book titles devoted to his adventures including Richie Rich Big Bucks, Richie Rich Cash, Richie Fortune, Richie Rich Gold And Silver, Richie Rich Gems, Richie Rich Dollars and Cents, Richie Rich Millions, Richie Rich Billions and Richie Rich Zillionz. Enough already, we get that you are richer than we can ever dream of being. The excellent site Harveyville Fun Times run by Mark Arnold says, “At one point in the 70s, Richie was starring in 32 different titles every two months! More issues and stories have published about Richie Rich than any other character, possibly in the entire history of comics books, with over 2000 issues to his credit.” Dark Horse is doing some really nice reprints of the Harvey comics helmed by one of my fave designers, Leslie Cabarga, with a good friend to the Arf Lovers Blog, Jerry Beck of Cartoon Brew. Richie Rich, The Donald Trump, Jr. look-a-like, became a Hanna-Barbera animated cartoon in 1980, on today’s date. More coin for Rich’s coffer.
