Makin’ Links # 170

Craig’s at MOCCA this weekend hobnobbing with fun folks such as the great Mad Fold-In guru, Al Jaffee. To read a relatively recent, long and fascinating interview with Mr. Jaffee (in three parts), you can go here:

Speaking of Mad, here’s some Mad-like humor from Atlas’s Mad-rip-off of the mid-fifties, Crazy. Probably written by Stan Lee, this has appropriately wacky art by the tragically short-lived Joe Maneely.

Jumping ahead twenty years to Marvel’s seventies version of Crazy, here, from issue number two, is Marv Wolfman’s funny take on one of my all-time favorite television programs, Dennis Weaver’s McCloud. This version is called McClown and has lush art by Neal Adams!

Finally today, what’s a Sunday without the funnies? Here, from the mid-sixties, is a funny (if now considered politically incorrect) selection of Sunday strips starring The Nearsighted Mister Magoo.
