D. J. David B. Spins Comics-Tunes: Let’s Have A Tea Party (wink, wink)

djnew

They say that if you can remember Woodstock, you weren’t really there. The same could be said for the “Tiger Tea” theme that ran though the Krazy Kat strip back in the early 20th century. Of course, I wasn’t even born then, so I have an excuse.

The strips centered around a tea with hallucinogenic properties, adding to the already psychedelic atmosphere of Herriman’s bizarre comic strip landscape.

Not long ago, our friends at Yoe Books (sponsors of this very blog!) released a beautiful volume entitled Krazy + Ignatz in Tiger Tea. (Available NOW from Bud Plant.)

Collecting some of the best of this non-liner storyline, Krazy + Ignatz in Tiger Tea (or K+IiTT for short) gives a fascinating glimpse into The Altered States of America’s past.

If you’ve been following this blog for any time at all, it should come as no surprise that there is a song called “Tiger Tea” by the Rio Cinéma Orchestra. We proudly present it here for your listening pleasure. Simply click the link below…
