COMIC BOOK COMPULSIVE — Porky Pig In “Roaring Rockets” (Four Color Comic 322)

In animation Porky Pig quickly went from a headliner to a straight man, character actor and all around comic relief for some of the Warner Bros. brighter stars, but in comic books he remained a leading man for a long time. Not just a leading man but in the pages of Full Color Comics he was a bonafide adventure hero, taking on the role of detective, western sheriff, Mountie and as in this outing from Four Color Comics “Roaring Rockets” drawn by John Carey a spaceman.

I love these covers, which bring me to the odd similarity between this cover and the one from Four Color #88, a.k.a. “Bugs Bunny Great Adventure”. The stories are in no way alike, but the covers are strangely similar; not an exact match mind you, but strangely similar.
