IMac-in’ Links # 784

One reason that Makin’ Links hasn’t appeared more often than it has lately is the volatility of my computer. It’s a wonderful computer but it’s developed an unfortunate habit of blinking out…sometimes for days, sometimes multiple times in minutes. This has been going on off and on since December. The Apple folks suggest that it may or may not be this or that but that any of those suggestions could run into money considering parts and labor. Yesterday, one told me that it would be more cost efficient to upgrade to a new computer after nearly 4 years on this one. Toward that end, in the spirit of Amanda Palmer’s recent inspiring video, we’ve turned to crowd-funding!

Since nearly all the bookstores have closed in recent years, my 30 year career as a bookstore manager barely exists anymore. I’ve been making my living working from home on my computer doing work for Yoe Books behind the scenes as well as for various other authors and publishers. I’ve also averaged a dozen popular blogs at any one time since 2009. We’re asking that you consider a contribution to help me get that new computer so I can keep helping Craig as well as providing info and entertainment and making something akin to a living!

Thanks for your consideration.
