Pearl Harbor Day
This being Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we have a few extracts from the front of the 1942 Chicago Tribune book, War Cartoons, which reprints the first ten months of WW II editorial cartoons by that paper, in chronological sequence, beginning the day after the Japanese attack on the U.S. Naval Base in Pearl Harbor. Being basically patriotic War Propaganda in the immediate aftermath of a surprise attack, these do, as expected for this time period, contain some jingoistic imagery of the Japanese.
The art in these first few pages, is by Joseph Parrish and Carey Orr. Later pages (not shown below) also include art by McCutcheon and Somdal.
