COMIC BOOK COMPULSIVE — Rags Rabbit #13

Did you also know that Harvey Comics, the Casper and Richie Rich people, once published their own funny animals comics? For instance Rags Rabbit, created by animator/cartoonist Marty Taras (the creator of Baby Huey). He first appeared in Harvey’s Nutty Comics #5 in 1946 and between 1951 and 1954 Harvey published eight issues of his own comic, numbered #11-18. As it is with teen comics I know almost nothing about funny animal comics and the Internet failed to educate me as to who actually wrote and drew this issue of Rags Rabbit, but I know what I like and this isn’t half bad.

Rags is Ok, but I much prefer Nutty Squirrel

…and given my near obsession with comic book fat guys it’s probably no surprise the feature I was most interested in here was Blimpy. But truthfully, it’s not so much the fat guy aspect as the seriously nice cartooning on display; this is a nicely put together feature.
