The Monopolist’s Prayer: Wall Street Frauds Make Wonderful Cartoons # 89
This week’s U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop’s calling out of Paul Ryan’s & Congressional Republicans’ budget proposals, as failing to meet the moral criteria of the Church (click here to learn more), reminds us that the religious are not politically monolithic, and not all of them have been co-opted into subservience to Republican ideology above their religious texts, nor buy into the Republican Gospel of Giveth unto the Wealthy, for They like Pharaoh, Createth the Jobs. The Crumbs that Spilleth from Their Teeth are Sweet and Nourishing to Those That are Hungry, Who Knowest Nothing Better… (Saint Reagan, Chapter 12, Verse 9)
Nineteenth Century church-goers – those whose principles modern conservatives often espouse wanting to return to — were still more likely to recall their gospel’s demand to help the poor.
Today’s cartoons by artist Frank Beard, originally appeared in the Chicago Christian weekly magazine, The Ram’s Horn, and have been scanned from the 1902 collection Blasts from the Ram’s Horn.
Today’s post also ties in well with a previous Wall Streets Fraud posting, “The Worship of Wealth”.
