D. J. David B. Spins Comics-Tunes: What’s Different About Dennis?

There’s a certain something about Dennis the Menace. Something different. A special something that makes Dennis stand out from other comics characters.

Is it that Dennis the Menace had a daily panel but a Sunday strip? Nope. The Family Circle shared a similar format. Is it the fact that Dennis appeared in comic books as well as newspaper comic strips? That’s true of lots of characters. Is Dennis the Menace the only comic character to be made into a live-action TV series? Superman and Batman can make that claim. What about record albums? Being on a postage stamp? Toys and merchandise? Nope, no, and uh-uh. What is it? Can you guess?

.

Correct me if I’m wrong (there’s a first time for everything) but I think Dennis the Menace is the only American comic character that shares a name with a completely different British character. Can Aquaman boast a similar distinction? I think not.
