D. J. David B. Spins Comics-Tunes: Twofer Tuesday

Here’s a double treat for all you loyal I.T.C.H.-ers. You’re welcome.

On past Tuedays (click here to see them all ) we have presented tunes about comics characters and by comics characters (namely The Archies). We’ve shared songs named after toons and characters named after tunes (Ghost Rider, if you’re keeping score). We have given you records made by comic book artists (Wally Wood), comic strip artists (Walt Kelly) and animation artists (The Firehouse Five Plus Two). This week we reach a new milestone. A song that mentions one comic strip character by a group named after another comic strip character. Can you guess?

Yes, it’s Brenda Starr, the heroine of her own long-running comic strip drawn by Dale Messick, herself a heroine of the Sunday funnies.

And while we’re on the subject of famous females…

.

…the artist behind the music is Blondie, a group with the same name as the even longer-running strip with a female protagonist. I can’t think of another record that has two separate comics connections like this. Can you?

Yes, it’s also Ladies Day here on Comics Tunes Tuesday. Special thanks to special lady Sue Pordon for suggesting this week’s song. Click the link to listen.
