D. J. David B. Spins Comics-Tunes: Beany And Cecil

Bob Clampett had been fired from Warner Bros., where he was directing theatrical Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons. So he switched from movies to television, and from animation to puppets. Clampett created a TV puppet show for kids about a sea serpent. It was so popular that he turned it into an animated cartoon series about a sea serpent puppet.

You can’t make this stuff up.
