This Day in Arf History: Bill Everett Died

On this day in 1973 Bill Everett died. Everett was the co-creator of Daredevil. He also worked on The Hulk and Doctor Strange. And Wild Bill Everett has a sexy pin-up drawing and complete bio in my new book, “Clean Cartoonists’ Dirty Drawings”!

And Big Boy! Don’t forget Big Boy!
Didn’t he also create Aquaman or some fishy character like that?
Maybe it was Aqualad. It’s easy to get those mixed up.
One of the greatest!
What issue is the DD art from? And is that Everett penciling and inking?
My eye tells me it’s Gene Colan’s pencils but I’m not sure of the inker. Everett drew the first issue of Marvel’s Daredevil, and that may have been his last. Joe Orlando took it over for a couple and then Wally Wood. This is all from memory so I could be off by an issue or so.
You guys are joking right?? Everybody knows Everett created Namor, the Sub-Mariner, along with other aquatic superbeings in the 40s & 50s. he is also featured in the “Alcoholic Cartoonists” article in an old ish of BLAB! and is spoken of in lofty tones by Kim Deitch in a more recent interview.
