MAKin LiNKs # 248

We start off today with a favorite weirdie from Jack Kirby’s black and white DC offering of the early seventies, Spirit World-”Cancel His Trip…Or the President Must Die!” Kirby says, “Don’t ask! Just click it!”

For a little more information about Spirit World and its companion magazine, In the Days of the Mob, the two and only released examples of DC’s experimental “Speak Out Series,” head on over to the Dojo next.

After that, jump back in time a decade earlier to the heady days of sixties camp and we find Pureheart, Super Teen and Captain Hero teamed up against Mad Doctor Doom and Evilheart from the fiftieth issue of Life With Archie.

Finally today, we have a giant naked woman stalking the streets of New York City like a mad movie monster. Must be the seventies again. Here’s Bruce Jones and Richard Corben from a themed issue of Warren’s Eerie.

Oh, wow, this really takes me back. I turned 10 in 1972, and it was around that time that I got a Ouija Board as a gift. It seemed to fit rather well with books about reincarnation, rising interest in Eastern philosophy, and, of course, Chariots of the Gods! Was Kirby a believer, or a canny observer? The answer to that is probably well-known, but I honestly don’t know!

I.T.C.H is looking forward to your thoughts. Please, no flame. Thanks!
