makin’ LINks # 246

Marvel’s monster books of the early seventies had some odd new stories. Here’s an early Gerry Conway tale, for example, featuring art by English upstart Barry Smith and inks by veteran Syd Shores. Seems an odd combination but it works!

Here are the first couple of solo stories of Mike Mauser, Private Eye by Nick Cuti and Joe Staton. The former E-Man supporting character is even annotated by co-creator Cuti!

Once Upon a Time in the West in Comics presents one of the earliest western parodies from Harvey Kurtzman’s classic color Mad, this one Varmint by the great John Severin.

Finally today, here are some 1927 Barney Google Sundays from Bhob Stewart’s Potrzebie, a good way to prepare yourself for Craig’s upcoming Barney Google volume which is going to press soon!
