On this day in 1948 Doug Moench was born. Moench was one of the writers for the Batman series among many others. His first published work was My Dog Sandy-a comic strip printed in his elementary school paper.
Due to the inclement weather the Hotwire signing has been canceled according to Glenn Head. It is now rescheduled for March 14th at the Rocketship in Brooklyn at 8:00. See you there!
Is it just me or does Frosty the Snowman on the comic book below look strangely like cartoonist Danny Hellman? And does the kid in the back with the hair sticking out look not unlike myself about to pelt him real good with a snowball? And is that cartoonist Anne D. Bernstein in the background cheering me on?
Tomorrow’s my birthday, so for The Flying Flick I thought I’d post this fun Blondie Birthday cover. And, speaking of fun, one of the most jubilant moments in movie making is this incredible dance segment from an old 1930s Blondie movie. Enjoy!

This day in 1993 Harvey Kurtzman died. Kurtzman was the founding editor of the MAD comics in 1952-He was equally well known for his Little Annie Fanny stories in Playboy magazine.
On this day in 1893 Elizabeth Holloway Marston was born! She was the inspiration and co-creator of Wonder Woman! Marston was a very liberal woman for her era-she had a career and was involved in the development of a systolic blood pressure test that picked up on deception(Lasso of Truth, anyone?).
Peanuts is one of those comic strips which has more than its share of music associated with it. I haven’t found any records yet about Blondie & Dagwood or Nancy & Sluggo, but I’ve got a boatload of Charlie Brown & Snoopy music. Much of it is pretty good!
This week’s gem is “Charlie Brown’s Kite†from the Broadway show You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown and features the singing talents of everyone’s favorite TV game show panelist Orson Bean in the role of the afore-mentioned Mr. Brown.
I have to admit I have a sentimental fondness for this album, as it was probably the third LP I ever bought and I’ve still got it. (In fact, the second LP I ever bought was also Peanuts-related and will be coming up on a future Tuesday.)
On this day in 1949 William Messner-Loebs was born. He took over writing The Flash and Wonder Woman series and is the creator of Artemis of Bana-Mighdall. Interestingly, during his infancy Messner-Loebs’ right arm was amputated due to a cancerous tumor making him a lefty.
