COMIC BOOK COMPULSIVE — Tarzan Monthly #1

A couple of decades ago I vividly remember how writer Mark Evanier would occasionally, casually mention that at one point he used to package Tarzan and Hanna-Barbara comics for overseas consumption using top American talent. I always found this to be a tantalizing proposition, especially seeing as how chances were I’d never, ever get a chance to see any of them.

And then I found a copy of Tarzan Monthly #1, a sixty-eight page comic, printed in Finland for the UK market. Gosh, it’s good.

I know it’s a Tarzan comic but I have elected to post two stories featuring his son Korak, this one written by Mark and drawn by the always incredible Dan Spiegle.

And this one by Mark and Will Meugniot and Bill Wray. Wow, that is one sexy jungle girl.

I lucked into finding a bunch of issues of this at a Half-Price Books in Cincinnati (of all places) a couple of years back. Good stuff!

I.T.C.H is looking forward to your thoughts. Please, no flame. Thanks!
