Friday’s The Flying Flick: The Jetsons’ Eep-Opp-Ork-Ah-Ah (I Love You)

I loved D.J. David B’s post on Tuesday with the Violent Femmes version of Eep-Opp-Ork-Ah-Ah, the original being sung by Jet Screamer, Judy Jetson’s fave rock star. I thought as a follow up I’d post the original Jet Screamer song that aired in 1962 for The Friday Flick. BTW, The Jet Screamer spin entry sound effect was regularly used on the Winsome Witch shorts of The Secret Squirrel Show, every time she uses her magic and says “Ippedty, pippedty, POW!” And the sound effect was also used on one of the last Hanna-Barbera logos seen at the end of various HB shows.

Wow! It’s like a vintage MTV Video from 19 years before MTV.
Well, naturally! The Jetsons was set in the future, after all!
Good point!
Nice to see that rock’n'roll will still be just as popular as it was in the fifties in the distant future.
I’m not certain the Jetsons were meant to live in the distant future. On New Year’s Eve of 1999, when everyone was worrying about Y2K bugs crashing our entire culture, I expected the Cartoon Network to air a Jetsons marathon — live.
I actually wrote a piece for Hanna-Barbera once, about how many of The Jetsons predictions of the future had come true. Okay, not those personal-size rocket ships, but other stuff like microwave ovens, picture phones, treadmills, and carpal-tunnel syndrome. They were often right about the future and there’s still plenty of future still to come so perhaps they’ll be right some more!
