D. J. David B. Spins Comics-Tunes: It’s The Year Of The Cat

Last Tuesday we talked about Batman and the bat-tastic theme song to his bat-tacular TV show. This week, the subject is The Cat. You may know him as “Felix.” Felix T. Cat. (The T stands for “The”).

As I’m sure you know, he’s a wonderful, wonderful cat (as Lawrence Welk might have said).

We’ve mentioned Felix The Cat on this blog several times before, including here, here and here. Felix was there at the very beginning, even before Mickey Mouse. And Felix continues to be a pioneer even to this day!

Did you know there is now a whole line of Felix The Cat guitars?

And a gen-you-ine Felix The Cat clock?

Of course, we’re building up to the big news: A new Felix The Cat book by our very own Craig Yoe and Don Oriolo entitled Felix the Cat: The Great Comic Book Tails. The hefty volume is Yoe’s mostrecent masterpiece, collecting the early comic book adventures of our feline friend. Yes, I said “mostrecent.” Available now at better bookshops or you can order it from Amazon.

This may indeed be The Year Of The Cat.

To celebrate, we present to you today for your listening and dancing pleasure a track by Fernand Gravey from 1929 or so.
