“Scheel Lunacy”…

…is the title of the chapter in the upcoming Arf Forum book on the unknown surreal cartoons of Ted Scheel. I love these! Of course in the book there will be many more Scheel drawings and bio info and an amazing low-brow portrait by Mathew Waldron in the book but meanwhile here’s a preview of the Scheel surrealism…

Hot Scheel

Here’s the promised caricatures by Scheel, Arf Lover! Tomorrow I’ll post some previews of what’s gonna be in the next Arf book, Arf Forum. (Spring 2007). That’ll be what I think is the REALLY Hot Scheel—his sexy surrealistic cartoons.

Ted Scheel

In the third volume of Arf, Arf Forum, I’m gonna be devoting a chapter to the 1950s surreal, wacky (sometimes sexy) cartoons of Ted Scheel. I think it will be an eye-opener! But in the late forties Ted exhibited another side of his cartooning self in a panel he produced called Religious Remarkables. You get it—they were like a Ripley’s Believe It Or Not of the religious scene. They were syndicated to publications by the Religious News Service. Ted also had yet another area he worked in-caricature. I’ll share some of those in the next post.
