It’s Doll Man Monday

A nudge, a blush, a smile, a wink… Oh Doll Man, your pocket-watch says no, but your face says yes yes yes!

On an interesting side-note, Doll Man has decided that America — like an extra button or leftover meatloaf — is worth saving. Just in case.

It’s Dollman Monday

OK, Freudian Funnies Fans! Doll Man has a big door knob between his legs. And there’s a key and a keyhole. What could all this represent? And where the heck is Doll Man, anyway? Outside a door? OR INSIDE A CLOSET?!? If it’s the later, quit pondering all this and just come out already, Doll Man! There’s nothing, absolutely nothing, wrong with your feelings. We Arf Lovers support you. In fact, many of us feel the same way. And, dare I say, many of your fellow superheroes feel the same way, too!

It’s Doll Man Monday!

Usually I show you Doll Man covers, but today I thought it would be fun to open one of Doll Man’s comics (Feature Comics # 118) and show you a splash page. Ready to play our Sigmund Freud game? First note the bald man with the gun to the side. He parts the curtain with his long fingers. What Freudian stuff does all that represent Arf Lover? I don’t know either. But, this fiendishly smiling dude discovers a bizarre scene. Little Doll Man at a circus freak side show. Little Doll Man and the big Strong Man are half naked. The both hold long rods with two balls. The Big Strong Man is perched on top of the “World’s Mightiest Mite”. Where are we going now with this, Arf Lover? Yeah, I don’t have a clue, either. But, darn it all, I wouldn’t be trying to find all this Freudian stuff if the Doll Man Logo, well hung from chains, didn’t perfectly frame the spread-legged Strong Man’s leather belt and well-defined package! The Man and Woman in the foreground look on in frozen shock as do we dear Arf Lover. Have a happy Doll Man Monday!

It’s Dollman Monday!

Arf! Arf! Doll Man has a dog day. What kind of dog do YOU have between your legs? Pit bull? Weiner Dog? Great Dane? Or Miniature Poodle? Anywho, I saw this comic on eBay but didn’t buy it-it’s too dog-eared! HA Ha Ha Ha! Oh, I amuse myself! Thanks to D. J. David B. who sent in this cover, actually. I can’t wait to hear the Little Annie Fanny comic-tune he going to spin tomorrow on the Arf Lovers Blog. Stay tuned…

It’s Dollman Monday!

While attempting to solve the problem of a “Poison Pistol”, going off as we speak, Doll Man makes crooks assume the position!

Did you notice the big rubber stamp on the cover? Collectors of Golden Age comics know this stamp well. It says “Bonnett’s Ohio’s Largest Back Issue Dealer of Magazines and Comics 502 E. 5th St, Dayton Ohio”. TONS of Golden Age comics you’ll see in collections and at conventions have this stamp from this used bookstore. Apparently thousands and thousands and thousands of comics went through the store in the 40s and 50s and 60s and got this rubber stamp defacing. The store started in 1939, the year Superman got his start, too. They must have rubber stamped a few Action #1′s in their day. Frank Pauer, ace cartoonist and editor of the National Cartoonist Society newsletter, took me to the still existing Bonnett’s a couple of months ago when I was visiting him. Alas, it was closed for the evening. Frank says the bookstore still sells comics (and incidently lots of fetish tapes and magazines), but have finally abandoned the stamp thingie-the ultimate humiliation.

It’s Dollman Monday! (Redux)

While trolling through Scott Shaw’s wonderful Oddball Comics site I found a interesting Doll Man cover. Sol Brodsky and Israel Waldman under their I. W. Publishing/Super Comics, Inc. imprint illegally reprinted Golden Age stories from old art or printing plates they dug up in the 1960s. Doll Man had three issues resurrecting his stories including this reprint of last week’s It’s Doll Man Monday comic. What amazes me is that, even when he’s not tied up, Doll Man instantly “assumes the position” of thrusting his little package towards the villain Minstrel in virtually the same pose of the Golden Age cover. Maybe Doll Man is trying to live up to what I.W. deemed him on the cover, “The Biggest Little Pack of Dynamite”. Or maybe a flaming banjo will just simply do that kind of stuff to you.

Compare the cover above with last week’s It’s Doll Man Monday cover below. I do note that instead of a bell tower the new cover’s location is an art museum which makes me happy as i alway like examples of “The Unholy Marriage of Art and Comics”, the Arf books’ subtitle.

It’s Dollman Monday!

The colorfully-garbed villain, The Minstrel, the Musician of Menace, has tied-up Doll Man to the phalic-shaped clapper with Doll Man’s package prominently thrust out. The Minstrel gleefully stares at Doll Man’s package as he pulls a rope between his legs putting the dong in ding-dong! If you think I’m reading too much into this just chime in!

Life has gotten in the way of my blogging lately but I’m gonna try and get regular again along with a little help from my friends. In fact, tomorrow, if we finally have the technolgy worked out, there will be a special new feature I’m very excited about from D. J. David B. Stay tooned.

It’s Dollman Monday!

Arf Lover David B. sent in today’s Doll Man cover. Thanks, Dave! Dollman has some pretty big shoes to fill today! They say the size of a man’s package can be judged by his shoe size, but that wouldn’t hold true here, I guess. Though, it must be said, Doll Man has always had a hefty package delineated by his artists in relationship to his stature. Al Bryant certainly drew Doll Man well endowed here. And Al drew lots of nice vagina-y symbols in the shoe Doll Man is stepping into. No wonder Doll Man is so erect and electrified!
