IMAGINE-there’s no Comic Con!

imagine_title.jpg

(Sung to the tune of John Lennon’s “Imagine”)

Imagine there’s no Comic Con

Its easy if you try

No Hollywood around us

Only comics by and by.

Imagine all the fans

Talking only toons.

Imagine there’s no costumes

It isn’t hard to do

No toys or T-shirts

And no Playboy Bunnies, too

Imagine all the fans

Talking only toons

You may say I’m Little Nemo

But I’m not the only one

I hope someday you’ll join us

And they’ll be no Comic Con

Imagine no slabbed comics

I wonder if you can

No need for grading and Price Guides

A brotherhood of fans

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the toons

You may say I’m Little Nemo

But I’m not the only one

I hope someday you’ll join us

And they’ll be no Comic Con.

  1. Mike Lynch Says:

Thanks for this, Craig. A gathering of cartoon lovers without the media hype and Overstreet and Sony and the wrestlers and so on. That would be a lovely event. Count me in.

  2. Journalista - the news weblog of The Comics Journal » Blog Archive » Aug. 1, 2007: Pleasant Dullsville summer Says:

[...] Jacob Covey offers his impressions of last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, and refuses to divulge the name of the replacement for the Pickwick as the dive bar or choice. Unfortunately for Covey, Eric Reynolds has already spilled the beans about the Hong Kong Lounge. Related: Tom Spurgeon presents his after-convention notes, as does Steven Grant and Shaenon Garrity; Valerie Dorazio descends to the lower depths of fan culture to witness a gathering of Slave Leias; and Craig Yoe invites you to imagine there’s no Comic-Con… [...]

  3. Damian Says:

i think there might be a slight typo; did you mean “imagine there’s NO costumes”?

    anyway, arf awesomeness all around.

  4. Craig Yoe Says:

    yes, damian, thanks!
