MOCCA

I will be at MoCCA Art Festival at the Puck Building in NYC this Saturday and Sunday. I will be sharing a table with cartoonists Denis and Alexa Kitchen, likely being dwarfed by their immense talent, but what the heck, on the other hand maybe I’ll benefit by the “halo effect”.

I AM excited to announce that I am publishing this week the first “Limited Edition Arf”. There will be only 100 copies printed (as opposed to the usual 4-5000 print run of the other Arf books. This Arf book will not be available in stores or through any mail-order or on-line retailers. Most of the copies will be given as a thank you people who contribute material for the Arf books or blog (so let me know what ‘cha GOT!)

As you can see this Limited Edition Arf is called Life is Short But Arf is Long. It is 15 inches high and contains 32 pages of material from 1864 (Frank Bellew) to the present (my cover!). Lots of goodies from the entire time span of cartooning and cartoons come from all over the world. All the cartoons playfully, creatively, riff on the extreme verticle format. Name artists like Winsor McCay and George Herriman are represented in Life is Short, Arf is Long. And, true to all the Arf books, there’s lots of unknown geniuses, too, that will astound you. But there is only going to be a handlful available for purchase so see me at the table or at my talk on Sunday to snag one for yourself. These WILL go fast, you HAVE been warned!

The talk Sunday at the MoCCA museum (just a few blocks from the festival) will be a multi-media presentation on Arf with lots of fun and surprises. I’m looking forward to meeting Arf Lovers there.

The new Arf Forum book will be at the festival, too, of course, and I will be happy to sign your copy if you wish.
