D. J. David B. Spins Comics-Tunes: It’s Batman time again!

“Wait, is it Tuesday again? I must have overslept! Quick, where are my pants? Where are my socks? I’ve got to put a comics tune on the Arf blog or Craig Yoe will fire me!

“There’s no time to do any research. I’ll just do another version of the Batman Theme. That oughta hold the bastards.

“Oops! Did I just say that out loud?”

Never mind. This is actually an excellent recording by Les and Larry Elgart of the theme from the incredibly popular Batman TV show, circa 1966.

Can you cross your eyes and see Batgirl in 3D?

(click for a better look)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there was never a bigger phenomenon before or since. Everybody wanted to jump on the Batwagon with their version of the classic Neal Hefti composition. For one thing, it’s a sure way to make quick cash. For another, it’s a remarkably easy song to play. (“Na na na na na na na na, Batman!”)

Les and Larry don’t take the easy way out, though. They play their asses off on this track. Listen…

Next week, it’s that modern stone age family…

  1. Michael Burton Says:

Yvonne Craig is 71 years old now. How is that possible, consarn it?

  2. Michael Burton Says:

I think you’d have to swap the two pictures to get a proper 3D effect, but she still seems 3D to me.

  3. DJ David B. Says:

    Sorry! Try again.

I’m a big fan of 3-D and I double-checked that image before I put it up. It should work.

There are two kinds of stereo photographs. One is called “free view” and that’s where you relax and go wall-eyed in order to create the 3-D illusion. The other is what’s used in viewers and it requires you to go cross-eyed if you want to see it without the aid of an optical device to merge the two images. Batgirl should be the latter type.

If you’re having trouble getting the 3-D effect to work you may want to save the image to your computer and look at it in an image viewing program where you can adjust the size of the photo on your screen. It may be too big here for your eyes to merge, depending on your screen resolution.

When you get it working the effect is pretty impressive!

  4. Ryan Says:

Humph, I can’t even save the image, it won’t let me…

  5. DJ David B. Says:

    Ryan:

I tested it and I was able to save it just fine.

Were you able to see the 3-D effect?

  6. Ryan Says:

Aha! I was just clicking in the wrong bit. Must be my age. I couldn’t get it to “go” 3D at first, but then I took my glasses off and it worked after a wee bit. If you’re ever stuck for more variations on the Batman theme, the Flaming Lips have done a fairly rocking version!

I.T.C.H is looking forward to your thoughts. Please, no flame. Thanks!
