Jay Kennedy R.I.P.

It’s ironic that this post follows the Mutts post. I’m sure Patrick gives Jay Kennedy, as Comics Editor at King Features, much credit for helping shepherd Mutts (and the whole King recent stable of strips). I’m shocked to just learn that Jay just died by accidental drowning during a vacation in Costa Rica. It was always such a great pleasure to see Jay at conventions and comics industry events. He was such a sweet, gentle, smart guy, such a deep lover of comics. Jay especially had a deep personal passion for the undergrounds and small press (Jay produced a guide on underground comics and was working on a sequel). Jay was just 50 years old–a person with the intergrity he had and his love of creativity should have lived to be 100. We need more people on earth like him. What a loss. This is very upsetting.
